My 200th Post -- and a Giveaway for You!

I can't believe I've been blogging for two and half years already. I can't believe this is my 200th blog post! And because I feel like celebrating, I'm going to throw a little blog-party and have a giveaway just for you!

My blog is basically the story of my life (starting in 2009). My comings and goings . . . my interests and hobbies . . . my scrapbook and journal. And I've invited you into my life and I want to thank you for reading, following, commenting, and being a friend.

Although I don't often share much about my taste in music here, I would like to tell you about a new album that was released a few months back. And give one lucky winner their very own copy! David Abramsky's "Revive the Heart" is just the most relaxing, beautiful music I have heard in a long time. Abramsky plays both the cello and the piano, layering them in his recordings; he's composed and arranged many of the pieces himself. He is a Jewish believer in Jesus and does include several Jewish melodies on the album. This album (his second) starts out with his more upbeat arrangements and then moves to the more calming, soothing pieces. His music really does "revive the heart."

Here's a sample of one of my favorites (Quicktime required):

So, with that, here begins the contest! To enter, please leave a comment below telling me who your favorite band or musician is (please make sure your name is included with the comment). On Tuesday, June 10th I will announce the winner on my blog and ask that they email me their address to claim their prize. One entry per person please! Make sure to check back on Tuesday and see if you won!

I'll kick it off I suppose - I have to go with Suzanne Vega. Her music is so poetic and beautiful ("Gypsy" is my favorite). And she's got this light yet smokey quality to her voice that I can't match no matter how hard I try.

Hahaha... Sharon says an artist who is poetic and beautiful, I'll pick a band that is whiny and "post-emo indie rock"

The Get Up Kids I think will always be my favorite! From singing their song "Red Letter Day" on the bus to Teen Challenge with a fellow GUKs fan, to their concert at Emos. Their music will always hold a special place in my heart and my past :)

But I live in a another country, so don't worry about sending me the CD.

How is the winner being chosen?

Sorry I left that detail out Chastidy. Chris has written a program that will pick a number randomly out of the total number of comments posted. So, if there are 100 comments and this program chooses number 22, the person who wrote the 22nd comment would be the winner. I hope that makes sense - Good luck!

Well, it is hard to choose a "favorite" anything: food, movie, sibling. I can say that Jimmy Eat World's "Clarity" is probably my favorite album of all time. It represented a life shift for me in my music taste and, as a consequence, made me less closed-minded to other genres in the future. I doubt I can win, though, since I'm related to the wonderful writer of this blog. ;-)

Having just returned from Nashville, my new favorite type of music is country! I loved all the live music that I heard when I was in "Music City." My favorite song was by Miranda Lambert "The House that Built Me" because it was so simple: guitar and a beautiful voice.

I have to agree with Chris that is really difficult to choose a favorite. Jimmy Eat World is definitely on my short list..however my favorite really shifts based upon my mood and happenings in my life.

Based upon my current listening appetites (largely based on how school and session with clients go) I vary between the I-have-no-shame pop of Miley Cyrus and the classical violinist Jenny Oaks Baker.

Hmm... well my favorite band currently is She & Him because it's light music but just addicting and different than what I usually listen to!

After deep thought, I must say out of all I have heard, "Bolero" by Revel moves me as no other.

Oooops, misspelled Ravel.
