thankful for being a girl

For the month of November my blog theme is thankfulness -- I joined the Good Life blog and others in the "30 Thankful Days" project to keep my attitude and heart in the right place after hearing about my husband's employer closing the business.

Today, I am thankful that I am a woman. I know that there are plenty of very good reasons not to be thankful for this fact, but I'd rather focus on the things I actually like about my gender. (Please note that the things I define as being feminine may or may not line up with your definition -- just a disclaimer in light of the gender issues facing our nation)

Today I am thankful that:
 - I like having my fingernails painted (I did them last night!)
 - I like wearing earrings, necklaces, and rings all the time
 - I like getting dressed up
 - I like doing my hair
 - I like wearing make-up
      - Okay basically I like looking pretty
 - I like making dinner for my husband (and other people)
 - I like having the door opened for me
 - I like beads, ribbon, bows, and glitter
 - I like making our home comfortable and nice (I need to work on this one)

I'm sure there are more -- I really do like being a girl. I know that God made me and I try not to complain too much about the job he did or the decision he made. I'm enjoying it today.

Hooray for loving how God made us! I agree, it is a total delight to be a lady. :)
